Game for Pursuing Pixels James Jam Game Gam 2022! The theme was permanence.

Solarpunk Mei is about bringing life back to your home. As trash falls from the wealthy space colony above, collect and use it to craft items and upgrades to clean up the pollution long plaguing the planet.

We used trash and pollution to target the theme. The trash and pollution we create has to end up somewhere on the Earth. Even if we don't see it in the short term, it builds up in the long term due to it's permanence.

Controls:

  • WASD or Arrow keys to move
  • Left click and hold to drag items
  • Scroll wheel rotates the screen

Tips:

  • Not all items can be combined and the trash item can only be burned.
  • Drops are random so sometimes there are long stretches where you don't get items that will combine together. Fire and patience are your friends here.
  • Don't be afraid to throw useful items into the fire so trash does not build up. You will lose progress but it's better than losing the game :)
  • You can throw crafted items onto the houses.

Downloaded and installed and I can'T launch it due to some sort of compression bug... the message was very long but boiled down to compression maybe being turned on despite not having a compressed file?!?

Just saw this. It's a web game so you should be able to play it in your browser?

(1 edit)

I was using the itch.io app and it doesn't seem to play the browser games it in... maybe I need Flash? (which I definitely don't have).

Edit: just tried it again and the itch.io app has me install it; the error is:

"Unable to parse Build/WebBuild.framework.js.gz! This can happen if build compression was enabled but web server hosting the content was misconfigured to not serve the file with HTTP Response Header "Content-Encoding: gzip" present. Check browser Console and Devtools Network tab to debug."

Hmmm... doesn't look like Flash, maybe Javascript is being blocked somewhere?

Thanks! I might know the issue but can't implement it for a little while.

Ok, I think its fixed
